Amidst a ton of drama with Pusha T, a few hit singles out the gate and rumors of a child, Drake has dropped his latest album Scorpion. On this album, he takes the double album approach: something that fans have wanted from him for years. Side A is all rap, while Side B is the R&B side.
Coming in at a whopping 25 tracks, Drake makes sure there’s enough music to consume here. On the feature tip, he enlists quite a unique lineup, one he could only pull off. Static Major, Ty Dolla $ign, Jay-Z, and Michael Jackson are the artists he picked to guest beside him here. In case you were wondering, there’s really an MJ feature, not a sample, but an actual feature. (Song is butt though if we’re being 100.)
Drake addresses it all here. The possible baby and the situation around it, takes a few jabs at Kanye and Pusha T, and a whole lot more. With 25 tracks in total, he had no choice but to do such thing. “Nonstop” might be one of the hardest Drake songs EVER, whether it be the flow he used or the beat Tay Keith hit him with it’s something crazy. The slight Aaliyah rendition at the end of “Is There More” is amazing as well along with the flow on “Emotionless” and that’s just side A.
Side B brings more pleasant surprises like a crazy City Girls sample on “In My Feelings,” which will probably ring out all summer, “Blue Tint,” which features some slight vocals from Future and of course the team of Ty Dolla $ign and Static Major doesn’t miss. The most important song is probably March 14th, where Drake addresses being a father. It’s Drake being vulnerable but on a different level, as he’s clearing the air on him being a father.
Enough of our talk, enjoy Scorpion above.
