Tekashi 6ix9ine has habitually been problematic ever since he first trolled his way into hip-hop’s mainstream. However, during an interview with legendary radio personality, Angie Martinez, the rainbow bandit shows a rare but colorful flash of maturity.
This best displayed through the way in which the Brooklyn-based rapper explains the meaning behind his name. When Martinez asked why he chose the moniker “Six9ine,” Tekashi draws the number six on a piece of paper and places it in the middle of the table. He then explains that what either one of them sees is based on perspective.
This combined with admitting he put “no effort” into his feature on Nicki Minaj’s latest single, “FeFe,” showcases an advanced sense of self-awareness that his purposeful antics often overshadow.
