This has been an album years in the making, and when you hear it, it sure sounds like it. Astroworld seems to be a big moment for Travis Scott in his career, and with this one he delivered. You don’t have to even be a fan of Scott to appreciate this body of work.
It’s a star-studded affair, to say the least. The likes of Stevie Wonder, James Blake, Gunna, Drake, 21 Savage, Nav, Migos, Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, The Weeknd… the list goes on. Everyone plays their part, and it makes for an amazing album. Probably the best of 2018, and if you want to argue, my @ on Twitter is @Groovycory.
There are a few big winners on this album besides Travis Scott. Houston upstart Don Tolliver steals the show on “Can’t Say,” an obvious standout and my favorite from the album. 21 sounds downright upset on “NC-17” and drops probably the hardest verse on the entire album.
The production on here is the real winner. Cardo, Allen Ritter, Tay Keith, Hit-Boy, Frank Dukes, FKi-1st, John Mayer, Mike Dean, Thundercat, Wondagurl and a ton more all help put together this masterpiece. It’s safe to say Travis Scott has an incredible knack for putting together a super team of producers and artists and dropping something powerful.
We could go on and on about this album but we won’t. Hear Astroworld above.
